After Hours Water Damage Cleanup in Troy, MI
Emergency Restoration received a call for an emergency water loss after hours. The toilet supply line was broken and the water damaged the floor and cabinets and drywall. The Mitigation team extracted the water from the hard surface then dehumidifiers and fans were placed to continue to dry out the wet areas. Thermal imaging/moisture metering equipment detected wet drywall. Demo of the drywall was done on the exterior walls with insulation. Antimicrobial was applied to affected areas. The team had to act quickly to prevent further structural damage and mold growth, especially given the late hour and the saturation already affecting lower-level walls and floors.
Key Challenges Faced:
Electrical Hazards: With water pooling near electrical outlets and appliances, safety was a top concern. The team worked carefully to shut off power to affected areas before beginning any extraction.
Moisture Penetration: Water had already started wicking up drywall and into baseboards, requiring quick removal of compromised materials to prevent long-term damage.
Despite these hurdles, Emergency Restoration successfully completed the initial mitigation phase that night—extracting standing water, placing industrial-grade air movers and dehumidifiers, and beginning the documentation process for insurance. This work was another example of the after-hours emergency response we do for water damage restoration for homes across Troy and Southeast Michigan.
